Heaven in a Tarte Box!

I am a pretty happy blogger today! I finally got my hands on what I like to call, Heaven in a Tarte Box! I am now the proud owner of the limited edition LipSurgence Collection (tint & luster). It's a 120 value for only $29.00! This is awesome because each LS will cost you $24.00. If you don't know what I am talking about, check it out HERE! Nice right? Well, lets get on with the review!

LipSurgences come in a jumbo pen size and can be either lusters, tints or mattes. According to the Tarte website:
-Lusters give a high dose of color and shine.
-Tints glides on smooth for a natural flush that will stay all day.
-Mattes glide on smooth for a rich matte finish that will stay all day

Now, lets get on with the fun stuff! Pictures & swatches!

Glitzy (Luster), Perky (Tint), Flashy (Luster), Swank (Tint) & Dazzled (Luster)

I really love them. They have a minty smell to them as well, so it plumps and moisturizes at the same time. I plan on collecting as many as I can, but that might take a while ;). So do you have this or any other LipSurgence? What do you think of them?

Where you can find this at:
Ulta (online/in store)
Sephora (online/in store)

How sweet it is! (Indie review)

Photo from: Sweet Treats Cosmetics
It's been a bit since our last review, but what better way to come back than with something sweet? I was very excited to get a package from Sweet Treat Cosmetics today, as I had been eying their products for a bit. So lets get down to business.

Sweet Treat Cosmetics is a relatively new mmu company, owned by the very sweet Kaitlyn. The company was launched in June 2011 & specializes in mineral makeup and lip glosses (although I am sure there will be more great things coming up in the future). The names and flavors of their products are based on all the deliciousness of well, sweet treats! If you are like me and you have a sweet tooth, you will appreciate the names. STC currently has a listing of 20 loose eye shadows. At $5 per 5gm pot, the price is just right. They are not a 100% Vegan shop but for the items that are Vegan, it is posted. Right now, they have a listing of 7 lip glosses in various colors & flavors. STC also has a face powder and some eye shadow collections up as well.
I'm really impressed by the variety of the items they have so far but I do look forward to see more loose powders up as they grow.

Buying/Shopping: Buying from STC is a snap. I love when companies take the time to set up a decent shop and provides a great shopping experience. Everything is nicely catagorized & easy to find. A plus is the shipping tab, where it shows how much your item(s) are going to cost you. I have to say I really love how they show what the actual color will look like when worn. So many times I see I color I want, but it's not swatched or anything and that's a bummer. So kudos to STC for this! One thing I would love to see changed (and this is just me being picky lol) is the font size and color. I would like to see it a bit easier to read for the customers.

What I got: Because I couldn't decide what I wanted, I ordered a Mystery Grab Bag. This is a limited edition item, celebrating 500 fans on their facebook page. What's great about this item is that you get to pick your size! Again, creativity gets an A+! You can pick your "craving" from petite to Gluttony. They start at $10 and the highest is $50. I got a petite craving grab bag. According to their site: "Each bag will contain more product than the retail value suggests." In my bag, I received two full size eye shadows, 1 sample eye shadow and 1 full size lip gloss, plus candy. It was all wrapped in a cute Halloween bag! I ordered on Oct 5th and received it on Oct 11th (remember the 1oth was a holiday). I would have received it on Sat (Oct 8th) but my PO likes to withhold packages. DC confirmed it arrived on Fri. So all in all, amazing shipping and TAT!

My treats & invoice

I received: Lemon Drop, Blue Raspberry, Daiquiri (sample) & a limited edition Candy Corn Lip Gloss. Overall I am very happy with these items.

Blue Raspberry is described as being a deep, crisp blue w/ shimmer (Vegan)
Lemon Drop is a bright true yellow w/ a hint of gold in it (Vegan)
Strawberry Daiquiri is a deep rosy pink (Vegan)
Candy Corn Lip Gloss is not Vegan and is just like your favorite candy!

EOTD:

Please excuse the crappy eyeliner!

In my opinion, all colors match the website photos. I am loving how smooth and easy to blend they are. The lip gloss is not sticky at all and just like STC claims, silky. It's a great formula. Everything is labeled as well, this is VERY important and I'm happy to report that STC complies with FDA regulations about listing all ingredients.

Would I buy from STC again? Yes! The customer service is great, the colors are great and overall, it was a good buying experience. I am honestly excited to see how this company grows.

Check out that box! Glory Box Review.

I have mentioned a MMU group on facebook that I am apart of. Through that, I have been introduced to some awesome like minded glitter fiends and some awesome (and not so awesome) indie shops. The most recent shop is Glory Box Cosmetic Co. GBCC is owned by the fabulous Tawnya M.

About the shop: GBCC can be found on facebook HERE and on etsy HERE. I really like how everything is neat (you'd be amazed at how many etsy shops are not organized). The products are photographed well, the descriptions are point on and the ingredients are listed.

What I ordered: Tawnya was offering something called the "Poolection" on facebook and I fell in love with the colors. She only made 5 and they were $30.00 each. I must mention here that I know this may not be for everyone but there is a story behind this but I don't feel it is my place to mention what that is (if Tawnya agrees I will edit this and add). The collection came with 5 gorgeous neutral colors with a homemade charm and topper on the stack-able. Along with my order, I received two gorgeous reds and a free sample of GBCC eye primer. I received my order in less than a week! The customer service is amazing and everything was labeled correctly and with ingredients. GBCC is so professional and this is how a Indie company should be run.

Left: My package came secure and individually wrapped. Right: My extra goodies!

Handmade topper and charm.

Swatches of Infra Red and Ruby Tuesday (Both not Vegan and clearly stated) along w/ the Neutrals.

I really love the sample colors I received and the neutrals. I do own the Naked Palette by Urban Decay and this collection is right up there with it. They are gorgeous and well pigmented. They blend easily and just a pretty darn good collection in my little opinion. I am a huge Urban Decay Primer Potion fan and GBCC Primer is just as amazing. It really helps and is formulated right. I suggest you guys try it out if you are looking for a new primer.

Would I buy from Glory Box Cosmetics Co. again? Most definitely!! I do have my eye on some of the lipsticks, glosses and other shadows. If you love greens, check out 80's Bastard! Have you bought from GBCC before? Let me know how your experience was!

Who knew a virus could be so good?! (Review VIE)

Photo from VIE

This review is on Virus Insanity Eyeshadow. VIE is probably one of my most favorite new shops (well, new to me anyhow). VIE has an amazing fan base and you'll learn why!

About VIE: Currently you can only find VIE on Facebook. They use the "Shop Now" feature which I know some people do not like but I don't mind it. I've done several transactions through shop now with my paypal, and have had no bad experiences. I did hear that VIE is working on setting up a website, so hopefully that will happen soon. VIE has an amazing color selection in their photo section and you'll often see great sales going on! They have their ingredients posted on facebook HERE. As for customer service, well THIS is how all shops should act. With VIE you will get fast shipping, great communication. According to their fan page:

"Virus Insanity Eyeshadows are packaged in clear 5 gram jars with sifters and contain approximately 3 grams of product. All eyeshadows are loose pigments and are cosmetic grade minerals (for an ingredient list for each eyeshadow see below). VIE do NOT contain preservatives, dyes, talc, or bismuth oxychloride. We recommend applying pigments over an eyeshadow base or primer (you can also use concealer or cream eyeshadow for a quick fix, anything sticky will work) with a small, rounded, soft bristle brush for the best color pay off. All Virus Insanity Eyeshadows are made with pigments that are safe for use on the eyes, lips, cheeks, and nails. This means you can use them for blush, mix them with clear lipgloss, or mix them with clear nail polish!"

My Order: I ordered a 6 for $20 of randoms. During this time, VIE also had a deal going where you could either choose free shipping ($5) or a free pot of shadow. I of course got the free shadow. As part of a makeup group online and because it was my first order, I again got a free shadow of my choice. How awesome right? Here are my colors (some are off because it is raining here. To see better photos, check out the facebook page!)

Swatches:

In person, the colors are gorgeous. It's been a long time since I have been this completely satisfied with a company.

The colors are described from VIE as:
Carnival Chaos:
Chaos: Lime green with dark purple glitter.
Vapid: Bright green with green iridescence and teal glitter.
Perverse: Yellow with purple iridescence. Contains light purple glitter.
*Ocean Mystery: A beautiful blue..like the ocean
Full Moon: Deep silvery blue.
Ferris Wheel: Medium pink with green iridescence and lime glitter. NON VEGAN
*Hope for Tomorrow: A gold/bronze.
Telekinesis: Medium iridescent purple.

My final thoughts: I love VIE and Jenni. I love how professional she is, the colors are amazing. They really blend well and the color payoff is great. Shipping is FAST and the customer service is great. No repacks here! I will definitely be buying from VIE again. Check them out at:

https://www.facebook.com/VirusInsanityES?ref=ts

A couple of deals/sales she has going on right now:
*10 random FULL SIZED eyeshadows for $25
*St.Patty's Day Collection $15-$17
*Build your own grab bag!
*10 random SAMPLES for $10 (If only ordering this, sh is $3)

Have experience with VIE? Let me know what you think!

*I couldn't find the description for Ocean Mystery and Hope For Tomorrow, so those are my descriptions*

A little Black Magic never hurts! (B&B Review)

I love makeup but I love bath/body products just as much! I'm always on the lookout for good soaps/whips/lotions etc. You get the picture. I will admit I am very picky when it comes to bath and body products. While I was looking for something new, a few of my fellow glitter junkies were gushing about a product called "Black Magic". My first reaction was, huh? Then. they went on to say that it was a great soap product and stuff. So, I decided to check out the shop this product came from and was very surprised.

The basics: First of all, I love the name "One Hand Washes The Other" (very unique). The shop can be found on etsy HERE and on Artfire HERE. When I looked on the etsy site, Black Magic was sold out but then I saw that she also has an artfire shop, which is where I ordered from. OHWTO is described as "Vegan-friendly Soaps and Skincare" and is owned by Becca H. She is a really sweet person with excellent customer service. I had convo'ed her on etsy and she promptly responded. She also has a blog that you can follow: http://ohwto.blogspot.com/.

What I ordered: Since I was hearing all this talk of how great the Black Magic Soap was, I of course got that in the bar form AND in the bottle creme version. With my order, I picked up a sample of the Black Magic Soap (which someone lucky will receive!). I placed my order on Jan 21st (in the late afternoon) and received it on Jan 31st. On OHWTO, the turnaround time is clearly stated as being: 10-14 business days. So I was very happy with the shipping time.

Black Magic Solid Soap: $5.25 for a huge bar. An intense soap experience BIG BAR tea tree charcoal soap green clay peppermint lemongrass grapefruit rosemary

Black Magic Creme: $6.00 for a 2 oz bottle. A unique blend of traditional essential oils and botanical ingredients combined with modern cleansing technology, this is a facial cleanser unlike anything you've ever seen.

The goods:

Along with my order, I received an invoice with a thank you, cute stickers that my son enjoyed and two samples of solid perfume in Barista and Constance. My items were individually packed in a box, with purple tissue paper. Everything was professionally done. The items were labeled with ingredients and instructions.

I personally loved how refreshing and clean my face felt after using this! I have also noticed a decrease in redness and blemishes since using Black Magic. :)

Will I order again? You bet! I love this stuff. The soap is amazing and I love the customer service. Have you used this product or anything else from OHWTO? How was your experience?

Review: RockABetty Beauty Cosmetics

I love the pinup style. The look is just downright sexy in my opinion. So needless to say, when I was introduced to RockABetty Beauty Cosmetics, I was extremely excited. With that said, there are a couple of issues with this company. *Disclaimer: The following post is only my opinion and mine alone*

The basics: RockABetty Beauty Cosmetics opened in Feb 2010 and ru
n by Ber. Her shop can be found on etsy HERE. The slogan for RABB is "Where every gal's a pinup". I think this is a great slogan because it just draws you in, as a customer. I don't know about you all but one of the first things I do when looking at a new shop, is to check out their shop announcement. At the time of my order, RABB had a 50% off code (which is a good thing). She clearly stated that orders wouldn't ship out until Jan 4, 2010. Since I wanted to order, I was ok with that. The date of my order was Dec 27th. RABB offers lid lusters in 10g jars, mini lid lusters in 3g jars, pinup powders, scents and more.

What I ordered: I ordered the "Crack Baggie Crave Sampler Kit, You pick 10 and a Pinup Powder" for $9.50 (with shipping it came to $12.49). The price was good because when you break it down, you are paying .95 for a sample. I am use to paying at least $1.00 per sample. I also like that the Pinup Powder was include.

The goods & more: If you look at RABB's shop announcement, you will see that it now states that all orders with come with delivery confirmation, except samples. This was not previously mentioned at all. I don't know about you but I feel even samples should come with a delivery confirmation but again, that is only my opinion. As preciously mentioned, I ordered on Dec 27, 2010 with the understanding that the orders would not ship until Jan 4, 2011. My actual order did not ship until Jan 8th and I finally received it on Jan 18th. That is such a long time and I will admit, without dc I was questioning the truth about the actual ship date. Because of the long wait, I emailed RABB twice about the status of my order. I did not receive ONE email back. Communication was terrible. With that said, I was really happy to finally get my stuff, which you can see below.

Even though I had doubts, it really was shipped on Jan 8th. I guess weather was to blame.

The cute popcorn bag my order came in.

L to R: Cute little wish list, business card, handwritten note and free sample (Toxic Waste)

Swatch #1. Really pretty colors. With Rehab though, the blue glitter was simply put, a mess. It didn't stay on and fell off. I'll post more below on the glitter issues.

Swatch #2. Again pretty colors but Covet & TW looked to be the same to me :/

So like I said, I was having issues with the glitter in Rehab. In the ship announcement, RABB had this to say:

It really is a bummer. It is nice to see the owner taking responsibility and fixing this problem. I can't say it enough but before you start a business...RESEARCH and when you think you know it all, research some more.

The last hooray: So between the shipping issue, no communication and glitter issues, this was a pretty so so experience. It could have been a lot better.

Pros:
Colors are nice minus the few with glitter issues.
I love the Pinup Powder, nice little shimmer dust.
Unique packaging.
Ingredients listed on site .

Cons:
Bad customer service.
Bad shipping time.
Ingredient issues, glitter that is too big and not cosmetically safe for eye use.

So, will I order from RABB again? Maybe. Like I mentioned, I really did like the colors. I think once the owner fixes a few kinks, this could be a great shop to shop from. I truly do hope they can perform better in the future.

What's coming up!

I just want to say first, thank you all for following me and passing me around. It means a lot!! I am thrilled :). So with that said, a little update for you.

-Sugarpill Cosmetics "50" giveaway! If you haven't entered already, why not!? The drawing will be held on Jan 23, 2010! I will use random.org to pick a winner and then the winner will be notified. They have 24 hours to respond and claim the prize.

-I also have a few more reviews to post. They are as follows:
*RockABetty Beauty Cosmetics DONE...click HERE

-I'll be doing a couple EOTD's this week. If you have a color combo you'd like to see done - just let me know!

If you have any shops you like out there, let me know and I will review them for Fan's Request!

Have a great day!

Quick Q&A!

So I received a couple of emails and in them, were a few questions. I find it only fair if I post the answers here for my fans.

1. Why do you do this?
I LOVE makeup and I love new/indie companies. I have been burned in the past though because there hadn't been any reviews on said company. Besides, I love trying all new companies out.

2. Are you an expert?
Not at all! I just like what I do and want to share it. :)

3. Are these your own opinions?
Yes they are. Anything I write here is based on my own personal experiences with a company. You should always research and buy at your own discretion.

4. Are you paid to write these reviews?
No I am not. I buy all of the makeup I am reviewing. I prefer it that way actually. The reason is that I am getting the same treatment everyday customers are getting.

5. Have you ever written or will you have a bad review?
Yes I have (see my Glittersniffer Cosmetics! review). I am totally and 100% honest in my reviews.

See..told you it was a quickie. Remember, if you ever have any questions, please feel free to email me at kmoniz05@hotmail.com

Calling all Glitter Geeks & Nerds: Shiro Review!

Image property of Shiro Cosmetics

While on the lookout for new MM companies, the one name that kept popping up was Shiro Cosmetics. So I checked out the site on etsy and saw this:

Makeup and Geekery.
and from her facebook page:
Nerdy, independent makeup company.

I love it! I love geeks, nerds what have you. I'm telling you, catchy titles/descriptions/pictures is very important when having a business and trying to gain a following. Well enough babbling, lets get to it, shall we?

The basics: Shiro Cosmetics is a one woman operation. It is own and founded by Caitlin. She has an etsy shop which you can find HERE and a website, which you can find HERE. Right now the website is under construction but it looks intersting with the Mario gaming look. I am really impressed with the photographs, as they cleary show the loose pigments and her names are pretty neat as well, such as Pikachu. As far as variety, Shrio has it. From her Legends Collection to the Super Effective Collection, colors range from the bold to the subtle.

I ordered a sample set on Dec 25th and received my package that following week (29th I believe). That's super fast shipping, which I appreciate. Now when I got my package I was even more impressed. Shiro doesn't skimp nor are they lazy in how they present their package. My goods came in this cute little bag with a business card on it. Now pay attention other etsy/MM owners. This is amazing customer service. This shows care and is a great touch. On the other side of the business card was a handwritten note from Caitlin. How sweet right? Another impressive touch.

Now, what did I get you ask? I ordered the Pick 5 Sample Sizes and asked for:
Magneton, Acid, Puzzle Cube, Nayru's Love & Rupee. I also was sent Spinarak and Temple of Time for free.

What I like the most is the ingredients on the lable. I really can't express how important this is to me and others. I personally want to know what I am putting on my eyes and I only wish all companies did this.

Here is a swatch. The colors are so shimmery and pigmented. They are blended very well and they adhere nicely to the eyes. My favorite was Puzzle Cube. It is a great highlighter with glitter that will knock you out (ina good way!)

L to R: Temple of Time, Spinarak, Puzzle Cube, Magneton, Nayru's Love, Acid, Rupee

The big finish:
-Will I buy from Shiro again? Yes, most definitely.
-The Pros include: Fast shipping, great packaging & customer service, great product.
-The Cons include: It was super hard to find one thing I didn't enjoy about this company. I guess that is why so many people recommend it. Give it try and let me know what you think!

I am currently waiting for my order from RockaBettyBeauty Cosmetics. It was shipped on the 8th, so soon. Also, I found a new shop on etsy called Cake Mineral Makeup. Their shop was intriguing so I ordered from them.

I am also wanting to do a give away from Sugarpill Cosmetics! I need more followers and if you help me out, you could end up winning a fabulous prize! I'm talking winners choice of pigment(s) from Sugarpill! Right now I am at 17 followers (yay thank you all!!). When I hit 50 - I will hold the give away. So spread me around and let's get some new friends on here.

Have a good one and be safe. Look for the Shiro review tomorrow and leave me your thoughts!

Review #4: Scaredy Cat Cosmetics

#4: Scaredy Cat Cosmetics!

Photo by Scaredy Cat Cosmetics. *Dysphoria featured*

I personally love to support small business/Indie Companies. They are more involved
and I find I get much better quality when using these companies. I will generally troll Etsy and check out the shops and if one catches my eye, I'll buy and review it. These companies NEVER know I am a blogger/review, which I prefer. I was introduced to Scaredy Cat Cosmetics by a friend, Kitty C. She posted the link to this shop and I looked, was intrigued and bought.

About the company: Scaredy Cat Cosmetics is owned and founded by Kelly F. She is (per her bio) a "mother, geek, wife, daydreamer, doer, free-spirit, lover of life." SCC is a new company on etsy. They offer unique, hand-blended, all-natural mineral makeup. They also have many Vegan items as well.

What I like about SCC: As with the saying "You eat with you eyes first," I buy with my eyes first. What attracted me to SCC was their photos. They are well done and eye catching. Another plus is their packaging. With a previous cosmetic company, I was sent pigments in a non padded envelope. Spillage was a big problem with that company. I also love the fact that SCC's shipping time was amazing. I ordered on the 24th and got it on the 27th. With SCC, this is how my samples (yes samples!) were sent:

What I ordered: I decided to order the 5 for 5 trial vials. This is a really good deal if you are unsure of a company and/or the colors. They come in cute little vials that have a rubber stopper. This is important because it holds IN the pigment. Each vial was placed in their own plastic bag. Now the thing with the vials, they really only allow for a small brush to get in. Now personally, this doesn't bother me because I just tap out what I need in the bag. Each bag is labeled with the name, so you wont get confused if you decide to pour into the bag. For my 5 for 5, I ordered Smooze, Teal Deal, Unicorn Breath, Keltoi and Caldonia.

What I think about the pigments: They are gorgeous colors. Some give you that POP and some give you that smokey, dramatic eye look. In my opinion, they are blended well with the right amount of glitter(size as well) and they are easily blendable.

Will I buy from SCC again? You bet! I love the fast shipping, great packaging and beautiful colors. If you are unsure, try her 5 for 5 trial vials.

Overall Score: 5/5
